Winter Vacation Notice

2025-02-055

Dear students,

As the winter vacation approaches, we wish everyone enjoy a happy and safe holiday. Here are some friendly reminders regarding safety precautions.

1. Always keep fire safety in mind and be vigilant to prevent potential hazards. Winter is dry and windy, making it a high-risk period for fires. Students should use electrical appliances correctly, avoid using high-power household appliances for long periods, and not overload circuits. When cooking or heating with gas or coal stoves, keep windows open for ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Do not carry flammable and explosive items such as alcohol or fireworks into public places or on public transportation. Develop good fire safety habits such as turning off fires and gas when not in use, disconnecting power when leaving home, and not piling up clutter. Learn fire safety knowledge, pay attention to safety exits and evacuation routes when entering public places, remember the evacuation direction, and evacuate to a safe area immediately and call 119 in case of fire.

2. Second, always keep in mind the importance of travel safety and enhance your awareness of prevention. During the holiday, students should pay attention to traffic and ticket safety. Purchase train or flight tickets through official channels and refuse to take overloaded or illegally operated vehicles. Students who drive should voluntarily abide by traffic rules and pay attention to driving safety. Plan your holiday trips reasonably, voluntarily follow public order, choose regular travel agencies with business qualifications, and visit scenic spots with tourism signs and that have been developed. Do not enter undeveloped or areas with harsh natural conditions. Choose regular and safe skating rinks and be cautious of drowning while skating. In case of crowded situations or other emergencies, do not gather around but leave the scene in time to prevent stampede and other accidents. Always keep your belongings safe during the trip and properly store your valuables and important documents.

As the year comes to an end and the Spring Festival approaches, students must be vigilant against all kinds of fraud. Remember not to easily believe in fraud messages or calls such as "transfer and remittance", "winning a prize", "involved in illegal activities", "flight cancellation, rescheduling or refund", "online shopping refund", etc. When receiving calls from people claiming to be from the public security, purgatorial or judicial authorities or customer service, stay calm and verify from official channels. When shopping or booking tickets online, choose official websites and be cautious of frauds that ask for "guarantee deposit, deposit, risk deposit" before transactions. Do not remit or transfer money to unknown persons and do not disclose your personal information to strangers.

Fourth, popularize knowledge on disaster prevention and mitigation and effectively respond to natural disasters. When encountering natural disasters such as earthquakes, freezing rain and snow, and hail, remain calm and take active measures to protect yourself. In case of an earthquake, seek shelter nearby, hide under or beside sturdy objects that are unlikely to topple over and can shield your body, or quickly move to a small room with support. Try to curl up your body, protect your head and the back of your neck with your hands, or use a quilt, pillow, etc. to cover your head, and at the same time, hold onto a solid object nearby.

Stay away from chimneys, water towers, tall trees, overpasses, high-voltage lines, street lamps, billboards and the like when outdoors. Wear anti-slip shoes in freezing rain and snow weather. Do not run or rush on slippery roads. Do not put your hands in your pockets when walking to prevent injuries from falls. Slow down when cycling and keep a safe distance. Wear a helmet. Try not to go out during hailstorms. If you are outdoors and suddenly encounter hail, quickly find a shelter. If there is no shelter, adopt a safe outdoor sheltering posture: squat half down, hold your head with both hands, and protect your head, chest and abdomen from being hit.

Strengthen personal protection and safeguard physical and mental health. Winter is cold and the temperature fluctuates greatly. Students should voluntarily practice the concept of "health first" and take responsibility for their own health. Pay attention to adding clothes to keep warm, maintain good hygiene habits, and keep a healthy lifestyle. During the Spring Festival, everyone should keep a regular schedule, arrange a balanced diet, pay attention to food safety, and engage in moderate exercise to enhance physical immunity and resistance and maintain physical and mental health.

During the holiday period, please remain vigilant and closely monitor any notices issued by the college. Adhere strictly to all relevant regulations, implement appropriate safety precautions in laboratories, dormitories, and other areas, and promptly report any emergencies to your counselors.
