On January 22, a special live broadcast titled "Sharing the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Spring Festival with the World—Celebrating the New Year in the Museum" was launched at 9:15 AM. This event was jointly organized by the Shanxi International Communication Center, Shanxi Museum, and Shanxi University. Two international students from our university, Bagul GoAjayeva (from Turkmenistan) and Jesteben Beni Mutangay (from the Democratic Republic of Congo), participated in the broadcast to experience the intangible cultural heritage of the Spring Festival for the first time.
During the event, the students engaged in various traditional Chinese activities, such as making woodblock New Year paintings(木板年画), creating intangible cultural heritage rubbings (非遗拓印), and writing Spring Festival couplets alongside renowned calligraphers. "Every pattern has a story and cultural significance. I must share Chinese culture and stories with people in my country," said Bagul Gojayeva, carefully preserving her creations. At the end of the program, Jesteben Beni Mutangay performed a Shanxi folk song, captivating the audience with his beautiful singing and earning enthusiastic applause.
From ancient intangible cultural heritage techniques to long-standing Spring Festival customs experienced during this live broadcast, international students to gain a deeper understanding of the spirit and values embedded in the Chinese Spring Festival. It also sparked a greater interest and appreciation for China's intangible cultural heritage.
